Choegon Rinpoche Chants of Mantra to Multiply the Merit of Prostration
KON-CHOK SUM-LA
CHAG-TSAL-LO
NAMO MAN-JU-SHRI
YE
NAMA SU-SHRI
YE
NAMO U-TA-MA-SHRI YE
SVAHA
This is called the prostration mantra, consists of the names of
three Buddhas whom are known to multiply the merit of prostration.
The merit of prostration preceeded by this mantra is multiply to a
million times.
When we do any prostration practice, inclusing Ngondro, always
start your practice by reciting this mantra for 3 - 5 times, then
follow by your prostration verses according to the respective
Ngondro text.
Similarly, when you are prostrating to the master, Buddha,
mandala and your own shrine, it's essential to chant this mantra
while you are prostrating. However, if you are prostarting for more
than 3 times, says 7 or 21 times, and you do not know of any other
mantras, then you can first chant this prostration multiplying
mantra for 3 times, follow for the below verses:
NAMO BUDDHA YA
NAMO DHARMA YA
NAMO SANGHA YA
This is another skillful means of Vajrayana in aiding the
practitioner to gather enormous merits in the shortest time.
